Dr Suess wrote the classic ‘Green Eggs and Ham’, well we’ve decided to try a different take….. and have bought some Araucana chicks! The thing that sets the Araucana apart from most other breeds of poultry is the fact that it lays Blue eggs!  The Araucana is the only breed that naturally lays these uniquely coloured eggs. 

The colour of the eggs depends on the colour of the bird. We have three lavender/grey birds so we’re hoping for beautiful sky blue eggs.  And no, fear not,  the yolks aren’t blue!  They’re still yellow the same as any other chicken.

They’re 15 odd weeks off laying . . . but you might find a blue egg in your next ‘Breakfast Hamper’..and of course some ham (well bacon actually!).
